Anubis Arbiter

An Anubis Arbiter walks the boundary between life and death. They judge souls for worthiness, guiding honorable spirits to rest while binding or banishing those unworthy. Wielding both gentle compassion and stern retribution, they commune with undead, heal the departed, and strike down unbalanced forces. Always calm, their presence evokes reverence and fear in equal measure.

Class Features

Death’s Scale (Level 1)

Your intimate balance of life and death grants you enhanced control over soul magic. When you cast a spell that binds, releases, or judges a soul (necromancy spells of 1st level or higher on your spells list), you add your Wisdom modifier to one saving throw DC or attack roll of that spell.

Unsworn Tongue (Level 1)

You can communicate with undead as if you cast Speak with Dead at will, but only for brief questions (max two sentences). Undead must be willing or make a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC to engage.

Channel Balance (Level 2)

You gain the ability to channel the energies of death and undeath. As an action, you can spend 1 Judgment Point to either Turn Undead (as the cleric feature) or to grant an undead creature you can see temporary hit points equal to twice your Arbiter level. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum once), and regain all uses on a long rest.

Resource Cost: 1 Judgment Point

Soul Authority (Level 6)

Undead creatures have disadvantage on saving throws against your Arbiter spells and martial abilities.

Deathly Aegis (Level 10)

When an undead creature you can see targets you with an attack, you can use your reaction to gain temporary hit points equal to half your Arbiter level and impose disadvantage on that attack. Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Arbiter’s Judgment (Level 14)

Once per long rest, as an action you choose a target you can see (creature or object). If it is undead, you deal 10d8 radiant damage (Con save for half). If it is an object or willing soul, you may release or bind it permanently (as a true resurrection or animate dead, your choice).

Anubian Ascendance (Level 18)

At 18th level, you become an avatar of final judgment. You are immune to poison and disease, and if you are reduced to 0 hit points, you instead drop to 1 hit point and gain 10 temporary hit points. Once you use this, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
